I’m Toby White – I work as VP of Digital Engineering at Wärtsilä, where I manage software and data platform strategy. I’m based in Helsinki, Finland; I live by the sea in Otaniemi, with my wife, daughter and son.
Until 2017 I was based in London and Cambridge, where I spent a decade in academic research around data systems for scientific knowledge management, based on which I founded Timetric and grew it until its acquisition by GlobalData, where I then worked as Group CTO.
